Delay Characteristics for an IEEE 802.11a Indoor Wireless Channel
The paper reports on the experiments undertaken at the University of Wollongong to characterise delay parameters of an indoor wireless channel at 5GHz bandwidth. The measurements were undertaken at different locations around the campus with results recorded for a post-processing to calculate mean excess delay, r.m.s. delay spread, and the coherence bandwidth of the channel.

Wireless networks offer the user increased mobility and flexibility, allowing information to be accessed or exchanged anywhere, without the need for a physical connection to a network. Early wireless radio LAN products operated in the unlicensed 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz Industrial-Scientific-Medical (ISM) bands. However, the bandwidths available at these frequencies are limited, and must be shared w...
متن کاملIndoor Channel Measurement for Wireless Communication
In the past few years, Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) system received lots of attentions, since it is capable in providing higher spectrum efficiency, as well as better transmission reliability. This improvement is brought by the multiple antennas at both sides of transmission. Since there are additional parallel sub-channels in spatial domain, system can not only increase the reliabilit...
متن کاملChannel Models for Indoor Wireless Transmission
In this paper a procedure is given for obtaining the channel impulse response for a rectangular room in terms of image sources. Exact image source strengths are evaluated using the Laplace transform formulation of the Sommerfeld problem. The coherent component of the impulse response is shown to exhibit significant variation is space. The performance of a decision feedback equalizer is examined...
متن کاملIndoor wireless infrared channel characterization by measurements
Use of infrared light for indoor wireless communications has received considerable attention recently. In this paper, we present results obtained from a large set of measurements performed at the University of Ottawa. We investigate impacts of receiver rotation and shadowing on the properties of indoor infrared channels. This paper contains a description of a measurement system developed and us...
